Wii “demand outstripping supply” in Australia

Nintendo’s having a tough time keeping up with demand for Wii in Australia, the company’s says here, despite pulling in continual stock updates.

“We put 10,000 units of Wii hardware into the market in the first week of January, and that sold through almost immediately as retailers were still filling Christmas demand,” said Nintendo Australia PR Heather Murphy. “We are also shipping out 10,000 units of Wii hardware from today and then again later this week. We also have more stock arriving in late February and then more shipments in March and April. We are continually putting stock into the market, but the demand from consumers is still outstripping supply.”

Australian retailers contacted as a result of that piece said they had no idea when they were going to be getting their next batch of machines, with some saying they’d received as few as six machines per store in their last shipment.
