EA and Marvel quit partnership

EA and Marvel have confirmed that the companies will no longer be co-working on fighting games following the closure of EA Chicago, the developer of upcoming projects based on the partnership.

"EA and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of the Marvel titles under the EA Games Label. This was a business decision based on EA's portfolio strategy," said an Electronic Arts spokesperson here.

One title, canned in the closure, would have been the second fighter to emerge from the deal, the first being Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects in 2005.

A Marvel spokesperson said that the dissolution of the EA deal "will not affect Marvel's ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future."
